TWD & Associates, Inc. Awarded Contract to Support ACT-IAC’s Collaboration and Education Center

Unified Communications Solution to Promote Information Sharing and Virtual Participation

Arlington, VA – July 31, 2013 – TWD & Associates, Inc. (TWD), a communication and collaboration solutions provider for the public sector, today announced that it has been awarded a contract by the American Council for Technology – Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) for audio/visual support. The contract will serve to deliver unified communications (UC) to ACT-IAC’s new Collaboration and Education Center.

“ACT-IAC is building a new Collaboration and Education Center in our offices to enhance our ability to serve the government IT community,” said Kenneth Allen, Executive Director, ACT-IAC. “The Center is being designed with an innovative and leading-edge technology infrastructure to support virtual participation by government and industry employees regardless of their location. We are delighted to be partnering with IAC member TWD on this important initiative.”

Under the terms of the agreement, TWD will deliver support for 16 video and 64 audio-only connections; software for webcasting and remote participation; and, the ability to record events. At the heart of the solution will be the Vidyo Unified Communications System, an innovative UC product used by organizations such as Google, Yahoo and the Department of Defense (DoD). With Vidyo, ACT-IAC will be able to conduct virtual symposiums and effortlessly hold web meetings regardless of participant, moderator or attendee location. Users will be able to access content in real-time through desktops, tablets and smartphones.

To further support the functions of the center, a major component of this contract will include the ability to record meetings and education sessions. The solution has the capacity to host five simultaneous high definition (HD) recordings and 2,500 hours of content. Supported activities include:

  • On-site meetings with presentations
  • Conference calls
  • Training
  • Panel and spotlight discussions
  • Webcasting
  • Virtual meetings
  • Brainstorming sessions
  • Telework and off-site functions
