Asset Protection: Emergency Alerting Systems

Wireless Emergency Alerting Systems

In an emergency situation, quick, reliable communication can save lives. As an experienced systems consultant, TWD & Associates, Inc provides increased protection for its client workforces through the application, management and maintenance of a state-of-the-art wireless information distribution command, control and monitoring network that uses Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology to broadcast background music, public announcements and visual display messages.

The system has undergone rigorous testing and evaluation by both the Army and the Navy, who have installed the wireless emergency alerting system on military bases around the world.

The software provides intuitive and easy grouping, zoning, and real-time control of audio and data messages. Message and control sequences can be saved as presets. A programmable scheduler automatically cues prerecorded messages and presets. Visual messages can be broadcast in real-time or saved to disk for later use.

It offers substantial advantages over traditional hard-wired public address systems:

  • Fast and easy installation that saves time and expense
  • Reliable, secure, and virtually interference-free digital communications
  • The wireless nature of the system helps preserve the integrity of historic landmarks and buildings

The transceivers are programmed to automatically re-route communications in case of a point failure. The system provides:

  • A flexible modular design that enables rapid adjustments and acoustic optimization
  • Advanced command and control monitoring
  • Backup battery for each transceiver
  • Total Site-Coverage™ in heavily constructed indoor facilities and open outdoor facilities
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant
  • Synchronized audio and visual data
  • Audio and text files programmed for broadcasting to specific locations at specific times
  • Full duplex RS-232 data channel

The main features consist of:

  • Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum system that operates at a worldwide license-free frequency of ISM band 2.4 GHz
  • Permanent, temporary, or portable operation
  • Two wide-band audio channels plus one bi-directional data channel (RS-232) for transmitting audio messages synchronized with a visual display message
  • Fault tolerant design that enables each transceiver to communicate with two others in the system
  • "Plug and Play" operation
  • Pre-recorded message library with a built-in multiple message and multiple event scheduler
  • Total Site-Coverage™ of any size facility
  • Continuous real-time system control, data monitoring, and system supervision
  • Windows-based intuitive graphical interface (GUI) that displays scanned site images for realistic site layout and graphic control
  • Analog and digital I/Os for command and control
  • Built-in test for immediate, automatic faults detection. and output supervision
  • Hard disk recording and playing of audio and visual messages and presets.
  • ADA compatible for new and retrofit installation
